Spring Customs and Little Black Rain Clouds
Winter is finally over and the torrents of rain have begun to pelt the Midwest. While completing the annual purge of my backroom, I came across my old copy of Winnie the Pooh. I have my favorite stories, but in honor of a long-awaited Spring, I’d like to share A Little Black Rain Cloud by Winnie the Pooh. What could be more adorable than Pooh Bear impersonating a rain cloud to steal honey?
Spring is a time of renewal, the circle of life, and shedding the burdens of winter. My grandfather HATED cleaning out the privy. For my young friends, that’s an outhouse. The stories about privy pranks and the terrible chore of cleaning the pit were humorous for me, not so much my grandfather. My very short story, Pete’s Mighty Purty Privies, is dedicated and inspired by the hilarious memories of those days before indoor plumbing. Grandpa would have loved this one! I hope it gives you a chuckle as well!
“The author has a gift for clarity and humor and I can’t recommend this short story enough. Hilarious!” ~ N.N. LIGHT BOOK REVIEWS – N.N. Light Book Reviews

DID YOU KNOW?
Poland: Dating back to the 16th century, huge paper dolls are paraded through the streets and cast into the river to symbolize the end of winter’s wrath.
Switzerland: A snowman is burned at the stake once the first flowers begin to bloom. The snowman, called the Böögg, is often filled with explosives!
Bosnia: Spring is marked by the Festival of Scrambled Eggs (an egg representing new life). Eggs are scrambled in huge pots and handed out to the crowds for free.
